ELLERSLIE HOUSE

This project was for a house on a new sub-divided rear section. The clients had a good understanding of how the house was to function and work for their growing family. We work with them in a collaborative nature to help them realise their ideas.

Through working with the client,  and understanding the sites constraints and opportunities we were able to develop a contemporary design which worked well for a growing family both in side and out.

The black stained cedar cladding allows the house to sit well with the trees and volcanic rock on site. The boundary walls and a feature wall took advantage of the abundance of volcanic rock. The feature rock wall separates the driveway and the outdoor living area, providing both privacy to visitors approaching and screening for parked cars. The size and shape of the new site and town planning constraints proved challenging, with this in mind we were still able to provide a generous family home on a tight site with a private north west facing outdoor living area.
